Participants at Really Ready Weekend in March told us that “planning” was the topic they most wanted to learn more about.

How about you?

We’re in the process of creating our content calendar: articles, “infographics” and more!

And, we’d really like to know which preparedness topics you’re most interested in.

Don’t be shy, let us know!

P.S.  What’s an “infographic”?

Think of it as a visual representation of facts that makes it easier and more fun to learn.

For example, here’s a very basic, word-based infographic showing a summary of what PrepareTheWay.com is all about.

An emergency preparedness kit is an important part of your preparation.

Your emergency preparedness kit can be simple with a few basics or a full-fledged “go bag.”

Here’s a list of items to consider:

  • Water, at least one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days;
  • Food, at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food;
  • a battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert and extra batteries;
  • a Flashlight and extra batteries;
  • a First aid kit;
  • Whistle to signal for help;
  • Cell phone with chargers, inverter or solar charger;
  • copies of important documents;

Here’s a more complete Go Bag List.

For your home, prepare all the same items as you do for your go bag.  And since you don’t have to carry it, add these items in the following categories:

WATER & PURIFYING
  • Water – one gallon per person per day
  • Larger scale water purifier (yield should be 1 gal/person/day)
FOOD & COOKING
POWER & LIGHT
  • Candles
  • Lantern – BriteLyte:  get light and cook on it, all in the same unit
SANITATION & TOOLS
  • Plastic sheeting, duct tape and utility knife for covering broken windows
  • Tools such as a crowbar, hammer & nails, staple gun, adjustable wrench and bungee cords.
  • Large heavy duty plastic bags and a plastic bucket for waste and sanitation
  • Heavy work gloves
  • Disposable camera
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Fire starting tools
